Porto Cruz, on the rocks or mixed!

A few weeks ago I got invited to the launch party of the new cold serve Porto Cruz Fresco at rooftop bar Gaston. And I think I fell in love with my new favourite alcoholic drink.

We all know about Porto as an alcohol mostly served pure, but Porto Cruz is shaking up things this summer by launching their new Porto Cruz Fresco. Whether it is red, pink or white these divine liquids are the perfect substitute for the well-known GT.

Classically, a port is usually consumed pure (chilled or on ice). This summer Porto Cruz presents their new perfect serve Fresco: fresh and delicious! During the launch event at the rooftop bar Gaston we got to taste a few recipes. And because I liked them so much, I feel like sharing them with you:

Porto Cruz Pink:

7 cl Porto Cruz Pink

15 cl Premium Indian Tonic

1 red pepper

Ice cubes

Porto Cruz White:

7 cl Porto Cruz White

15 cl Premium Indian Tonic

1 slice of fresh ginger

1 branch of Rosemary

Ice cubes

Although these cocktails are mighty delicious, I have to say that the Porto Cruz White on the rocks is a killer. Its colour is gold-amber and has a floral fragrance, with subtle fruit tones of apple and pear. On the palate, his refined, velvety taste develops on notes of citrus fruit, dried fruit and honey. I'm a big fan, especially with the subtle perfume of Rosemary.

Did you know that the name Port got recognised only in 1675, although this type of wine was already produced in its region in Roman times? The history of the Ports begins in the Douro Valley, in northeastern Portugal. This name comes from the famous port city that already exported wine to the rest of the world.

In 1756, this region was delineated and regulated and the first Controlled Designation of Origin was created. The Port then gains in quality, aromas and finesse, thanks to the establishment of strict specifications. In 2001, the Douro Valley was recognised by UNESCO as a world heritage site.

Now it's up to you!
